About CosmicNav
Company and product information · updated 3 October 2026
CosmicNav is a hands-free navigation app for motorcyclists. A rider sets the destination by voice, turn-by-turn guidance is spoken into the helmet, and a real map is drawn on the Apple Watch, so the phone can stay in a pocket. The app is published on the App Store for iPhone and Apple Watch; the Android version is in closed testing on Google Play.
Company
CosmicNav is built and operated by Alexandr Degteari, its sole founder, in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova. The project started in 2026 and is entirely self-funded: no outside investment, no accelerator, no clients. CosmicNav is our own product — we are not an agency or a consultancy, and we do not do contract work for others.
The business is currently run by the founder as an individual; a company has not been incorporated yet.

Product
- Voice-first turn-by-turn navigation with a motorcycle routing profile: street names and distance to the maneuver spoken into the helmet, place search by voice («nearest gas station»), automatic rerouting.
- A real map on the Apple Watch. There is no maps SDK for watchOS, so we wrote our own tile renderer: the watch receives coordinates and draws the map itself, works with the phone screen off, and the crown zooms the map for real.
- Group rides — riders join a room by code and see each other on the map while the ride lasts.
- Music from the rider's own SoundCloud account, controlled by voice and from the watch.
- AI trip planner — in development, shipping in the next update. The rider names a city, the purpose of the trip, the number of days and a budget; our backend pulls real places from the Google Places API and a Gemini model arranges them into a day-by-day plan. Every stop has real coordinates and opens straight into navigation.
Availability and business model
- iPhone and Apple Watch — on the App Store.
- Android — closed testing on Google Play; open testing is next. Write to hello@cosmicnav.app to be added to the tester list.
- Navigation is free: no subscription, no ads, no user accounts and no analytics. A paid Pro tier (AI trip plans, offline map corridor, hardware integrations) is planned for 2027 and is not on sale yet — the app currently contains no in-app purchases.
Technology
The iPhone and Apple Watch apps are written in Swift and SwiftUI, the Android app in Kotlin, and the backend in Python (FastAPI) running on our own servers in Germany.
Maps, place search and routing run on Google Maps Platform: the Places API for voice place search, place details and photos; the Routes API for route calculation and rerouting; the Map Tiles API for the map our own watchOS renderer draws, since there is no maps SDK for watchOS; plus the Maps SDK for iOS and the Static Maps API. The voice assistant and the trip planner run on the Gemini API. OpenStreetMap tiles are used only as a fallback, when the tile service cannot be reached.
Privacy
The app has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising, and we do not sell or share personal data. Details: privacy policy.
